Rosberg urges Bottas to pounce on Hamilton's weaknesses

The 2016 Formula 1 world champion gives Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas a detailed list of what he needs to do to topple his teammate Hamilton.

Ex-Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg has offered Valtteri Bottas a detailed list of pointers on how the Finn can stop seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton. Nico Rosberg is one of only two drivers who has been able to beat Lewis Hamilton over the course of a season, the other driver was Jenson Button. The German who won the F1 world title in 2016 has offered Bottas some insight on what he needs to do to win the championship this year. "The most important thing is to pounce when Lewis has these small dips of weaknesses," Rosberg told Sky Sports F1. "If you pounce in that moment, it can really rattle Lewis and it can prolong that weakness for a couple of races. Those are the moments you just need to maximise." Rosberg also went into detail about Bottas' strengths and what areas the Finnish driver needs to improve on. "Valtteri, he's got many bits, he just needs to put them together into one season," Rosberg explained. "His qualifying speed, that's really been great. So if he can keep that going in this way, maybe pull it out of the bag a couple of more times, I think you're already in a good situation there. "Then he needs to get together his starts, his racing, and he has to win every single one of those races (where Hamilton struggles) to keep Lewis down in the ropes for as long as possible because when he comes back, and he always does, he'll come back with a bang."
