Daniel Ricciardo has been transferred to hospital for precautionary checks on his hand and wrist following a crash in second practice for the Dutch Grand Prix. The Australian locked up in avoidance of the already-stricken McLaren of Oscar Piastri after the rookie had spun at Turn 3, spearing nose first into the barriers to leave his AlphaTauri damaged enough to retire from the session. Ricciardo had held onto the steering wheel through impact and his team radio message in the aftermath suggested pain was present: "F**k, my hand". Onboard footage showed Riccardo reluctant to use force on his left hand when extracting himself from the car. Following an initial evaluation at the Zandvoort Circuit Medical Centre, it was confirmed to RacingNews365 that Ricciardo has gone to hospital to undergo further checks. Should injury stop Ricciardo from racing, Red Bull junior Liam Lawson is in attendance this weekend and would likely get the call-up to drive, although ousted Nyck de Vries is also an option for a sensational return.
