Daniel Ricciardo has voiced his desire to see Lance Stroll take responsibility for the crash that occurred during the Chinese Grand Prix.

At the first of two safety car restarts, Stroll collided with the rear of Ricciardo's car as the field bunched up into the Turn 14 hairpin.

Ricciardo suffered substantial damage in the impact and was forced to retire from the event.

The RB driver joined team-mate Yuki Tsunoda on the sidelines after the latter was involved in a separate incident with Kevin Magnussen.

Ricciardo launched an attack on Stroll after learning that the Canadian driver deflected blame, despite being issued a 10-second time penalty.

Stroll eventually classified in 15th place and was also handed two penalty points on his super licence, bringing his tally to seven in the last 12 months.

Ricciardo's plea

Ricciardo has called on Stroll to accept responsibility for the incident going forward in a bid to learn from the collision.

“For me, the biggest thing is if they’re like ‘oh, we’ll give him a five-place penalty the next race', but he still is then blaming me, that’s a bigger problem,” said Ricciardo.

“I want him to understand once the dust settles, if he's still hot-headed today, he needs to learn from this.

“We've all made mistakes. I've done it, we all have.

“As long as he understands that he was the one that's ruined not only his race but mine, that's the biggest thing we can take away.”
