Ricciardo breaks silence in unique way with sneaky 'statement'

Daniel Ricciardo has implied his F1 career is over for good, using an innovative way of sending the message after RB sidelined him for Liam Lawson with six rounds of the 2024 F1 season still to run.

Daniel Ricciardo returned to Australia after the Singapore Grand Prix, with RB replacing him with Liam Lawson in the days that followed.

Although he would have been on F1's autumn break anyway, 35-year-old has taken time out of public life. Those who follow his friend Adam Cianciarulo on Instagram will know he has been enjoying some motocross back home.

On Monday, Cianciarulo shared a carousel of photos on his Instagram account, the sixth image of which showed a polaroid of Ricciardo wearing a hat which reads: "I'm retired, having a good time is my job".

Whilst unconfirmed, the subtle message suggests the Australian has closed the F1 chapter of his life - at least for now.

Whether he takes up another form of motorsport remains to be seen, but the eight-time grand prix winner will not be short of suitors.

Supercars, Australia's most prestigious touring car championship, is known to be keen on signing Ricciardo to a team and he would no doubt be welcome in other forms of racing.
