Max Verstappen missed out on a Hungarian Grand Prix podium after an ill-fated lunge on Lewis Hamilton towards the end of the race near Budapest.
However, the Dutchman's difficulties at the Hungaroring did not start on lap 63, when he collided with the Mercedes into Turn 1.
Incensed at having to give up second position to Lando Norris early in the race to avoid a penalty for gaining an advantage off track, the triple-world champion's afternoon did not get any less stressful - and he found a sparring partner in his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase.
Having run long during the first stint, Verstappen found himself undercut by Hamilton. He managed to track down his old adversary, passing him on lap 36. Unfortunately, he would run wide at the next corner, handing the position back to the British driver.
And from there the 26-year-old slowly got more and more frustrated with how the grand prix was unfolding - with Lambiase catching all of his fury.
After also getting undercut by the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc during the second round of pit stops, Verstappen took direct aim at the Red Bull team, criticising its choice of strategy.
That appears to have been a step too far, with team principal Christian Horner confirming he will speak with his star driver privately.
