The suspicions between McLaren and Red Bull Racing persist.

Where first the Woking-based team was under a magnifying glass with the rear wings in Baku, the focus then shifted to the Austrian racing stable.

That involved the possibility of changing the ride height between qualifying and the race in parc fermé, although Red Bull has always denied that it could take advantage of that.

Now a new chapter is being added, as Red Bull suspects McLaren of an illegal trick with the tyres, reports Auto, Motor und Sport.

At issue is the fact that the tyres are filled with water. This would improve cooling of the tyres from the inside over long distances.

The water could be sprayed into the tyres through the valves. Even small amounts of water could achieve the desired effect, the publication writes. Several teams, including McLaren, would be able to take advantage of this trick during long runs.

According to the German medium, the FIA is investigating the allegations, with no suspicious observations made in either Austin or Mexico.

In doing so, Pirelli would report the slightest irregularities, but according to the tyre manufacturer, however, there has not been a single suspicious incident this year.

Neither the FIA nor Pirelli would officially comment to the German publication. Rumour has it, however, that the story is just another storm in a teacup.
