Red Bull has achieved a vital milestone ahead of the new F1 season, with its RB21 passing the FIA crash tests, RacingNews365 understands.

With the pre-season test in Bahrain on February 26-28, this is an important step for the team as it seeks to reassert itself in the constructors' championship following a difficult 2024.

Although Max Verstappen retained his drivers' title to join an elite club of champions with four or more to their name, Red Bull failed to defend its team title due to the woeful form of Sergio Perez.

After four seasons with the team, the Mexican driver has been replaced by rookie Liam Lawson, who has been promoted from sister team Racing Bulls despite only 11 grands prix under his belt after cameo roles over the past two campaigns.

Although the crash tests are a tickbox exercise, they still represent a key moment in the evolution of any new car.

With the chassis fully approved by the FIA, it allows Red Bull to concentrate on refining its development ahead of hitting the track in four weeks at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The season-opening grand prix will be at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia, on March 14-16
