Ralf Schumacher has said that Nikita Mazepin should head off and find something else to do with his career, rather than racing in Formula 1.
Schumacher, who has been a vocal critic of Mazepin throughout 2021, weighed in with his opinion about the Russian rookie as the season drew to a close in Abu Dhabi.
Speaking to Sky Sport Germany, Schumacher lashed out at Mazepin and said it's time to do something else.
"Mazepin was certainly a good driver in Formula 2," he said.
"But this year, he has developed in the wrong direction and should actually be doing something different.
"He doesn't necessarily have to drive Formula 1."
A vested interest
Schumacher is the uncle of Mazepin's teammate, Mick Schumacher, a fellow rookie who dominated the Haas battle in 2021.
A stronger teammate for Schumacher would have the effect of galvanising the young German driver, claims Ralf.
"[He needs someone] who can help him," he said.
"Someone who can work with him to move the team forward, so that Mick is not alone in a lost cause."
With Mick Schumacher impressing with some standout drives in 2021, his uncle believes that points can be on the cards if Haas make the expected step up next season.
"It depends on what Haas makes available to him," he comments.
"Then it's up to him to implement it."
