Pourchaire and Fittipaldi in hospital following F2 crash in Saudi Arabia

The FIA have confirmed that Theo Pourchaire and Enzo Fittipaldi have both been taken to hospital following their crash in the F2 Feature Race.

Formula 2 drivers Theo Pourchaire and Enzo Fittipaldi have both been taken to hospital following their hefty crash in the Feature Race in Saudi Arabia. At the start of the already-delayed race, Pourchaire stalled in his third-place grid slot and barely got his car moving. Fittipaldi, starting the race from 18th, was accelerating away from the grid and, unsighted, struck the back of Pourchaire's car. The race was immediately red-flagged to allow for extrication of the drivers. The FIA have since released a statement confirming that both drivers have been taken to a local hospital. "The FIA advises that an incident occurred during the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race start today, 05/12/21, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, involving car #10, Théo Pourchaire, and car #14, Enzo Fittipaldi," read the short statement from the governing body. "The drivers were immediately attended to by emergency and medical crews. The drivers were conscious and extricated by the attending medical crews. "Both have been transferred by ambulance and helicopter to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital, Jeddah."
