Potential new F1 location receives Singapore warning

A potential new F1 location has gained the support of one driver in particular - but he has conceded it could prove to be a physical challenge.

Alex Albon has voiced support for the possibility of F1 establishing a grand prix in Thailand but warned it could be an extreme physical challenge for the drivers. Following the season-opening race in Australia, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali travelled to Thailand to discuss the possibility of a new grand prix in the nation. The Asian country has long held an interest in establishing a race on the calendar which likely would be set up around the streets of its capital, Bangkok. Albon races under a Thai flag and is only the second driver to do so in F1 history. The 29-year-old is keen to introduce the sport to Thai culture. “Firstly, I’m trying to keep up with Stefano and asking him [about the possibility of a race in his country]," Albon told media, including RacingNews365 . "It’s very exciting, clearly. For myself and all of Formula 1, not just me. "Thailand is an amazing country, and I’m sure people who have been to Thailand will vouch for that. “I’d be excited to hopefully one day show my colleagues the culture of Thailand, the food.” However, the heat and humidity in Thailand are high all year round, which could pose a great physical test for the drivers. Albon likened it to the challenge the drivers currently endure in Singapore. “It will be interesting with the heat, that’s one area that might make it a Singapore 2.0,” Albon said.  “But all the more for it. On my side, I’m doing everything I can to make that happen. But let’s see.”
