Second practice ahead of this weekend's Las Vegas Grand Prix has been red-flagged, following a potential track failure at the Strip Circuit.

With around 20 minutes remaining in the most representative practice session of the weekend, a red flag was suddenly flown without an immediate explanation as to why.

However, five minutes into the red flag, the FIA confirmed that a red flag had been flown as a "precautionary measure" following a marshal report of a loose drain cover.

Multiple teams reported the possible loose drain cover at Turn 17 on social media, with several circuit vehicles having immediately driven to the area in question.

The red flag immediately brought back memories of the disastrous opening day of the 2023 Las Vegas GP, where first practice was abandoned after two drivers struck a loose drain cover.

Thankfully, following a just over 10-minute stoppage, the session resumed.
