Formula 1 has given the green light for the Portuguese Grand Prix to fill the vacant slot on the 2021 Formula 1 calendar, with the Portimao circuit to host the race for the second year in a row. The ongoing disruption cause by COVID-19 had led to doubts about the venue's suitability but it seems that Formula 1 and race organisers have reached an agreement, with teams to be notified informally on Thursday. RacingNews365 has learnt that, despite Portugal being on the UK's 'red list' of countries, and no exemptions being granted for elite sports, it might be possible to get around the 10-day quarantine rule because the Spanish Grand Prix immediately follows. However, it also means that anyone returning to the UK after the Spanish GP won't be able to do so straight away as they will still be required to self-isolate.
