After a 24 year hiatus, the Portuguese Grand Prix returned to the re-worked 2020 Formula 1 calendar. The race was given the green light after the powers at be decided to move forward with a shortened season after the COVID-19 pandemic wreacked havoc around the world.

Conducted at the Portimao race track in Algarve, Portugal, the Portuguese Grand Prix was won by Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes last year with teammate Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull's Max Verstappen joining him on what was a very familiar looking podium.
