Porsche unveil historic special livery as Formula E title-decider beckons

Porsche has unveiled a special livery for this weekend's Formula E title decider in London, in a nod to several of its former cars.

The German manufacturer has been celebrating 75 years in motorsport throughout 2026, with special liveries in Formula E having resembled some of its greatest cars.

For London, the final event of the Gen3 era, Porsche has opted for one final special look as it hopes to secure another teams' title and see Pascal Wehrlein claim the drivers' championship.

Porsche has blended several liveries from the 1980s into one overall design, featuring the Porsche 959, which won the 1986 Paris–Dakar Rally.

It also features aspects of the Porsche 956 and Porsche 962 C, the two white-and-blue Group C sports prototypes that each claimed two overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 1982 and 1983, and in 1986 and 1987, respectively.

Sunday's season finale will be about more than just the final points and trophies, with Wehrlein and Nico Müller also completing their final laps as part of Porsche's “Racing for Charity” initiative.

The campaign combines the team's Formula E programme with its commitment to social responsibility, with Porsche donating €400 for every lap completed by its two factory-run Porsche 99X Electric cars to support seriously ill children around the world.

The final donation total will be announced after the event, with the money going to Kinderherzen retten e.V., Interplast Germany e.V. and the Ferry Porsche Foundation. The campaign has already raised €390,000 ahead of the final race weekend.

For Wehrlein, the chance awaits to secure a second Formula E title after winning the crown in 2024, in what is set to be a thrilling climax to the Gen3 era.

"Before the season, our goal was to arrive in London fighting for the titles," said Wehrlein. "That is the positive side. At the same time, there were several races this year where we could have achieved more. 

"Even so, it feels good to know that we are still in the title fight and have everything in our own hands. We have already won the manufacturers’ world championship. Now we will give everything to secure more titles."
