Fernando Alonso has re-signed with Aston Martin, putting the bed the rumours linking him with the likes of Red Bull and Mercedes. The two-time drivers' champion had even mooted the possibility of re-retirement, but having signed on the dotted line to what is at least a two-year deal - seeing him through to the end of 2026 - the Spaniard will be racing in F1 until he's at least 45 years old. It might not be Lewis Hamilton-early, but most did not anticipate Alonso announcing his intentions so soon into the year. Him staying put will no doubt have wider ramifications for the driver market, but the first question to answer is whether the 32-time grand prix winner has made the right decision.
