Oscar Piastri revealed on Sunday morning that he broke a rib during the first half of the F1 season. The McLaren driver posted a series of photos on X, with the final one being of an X-ray image which shows a clear broken rib. On the photo, the X-ray is dated as Monday July 8 at 11:12am, the morning after he finished fourth in a thrilling British Grand Prix. Piastri was in contention for a podium in Silverstone but saw his chances disappear after McLaren opted against performing a double-stack. Instead, Piastri had to complete a further lap on slick tyres in intensifying rain, resulting in a very slow lap. Piastri wrote on X: "First part of the season done. First GP victory. First broken bone. Rib’s enjoying the break.” The X-ray image is the fourth of four photos posted by the Australian, with the first being himself on the Hungarian Grand Prix podium celebrating his maiden victory.
