Oscar Piastri has addressed speculation linking him with a Red Bull Formula 1 seat after impressing for McLaren in his rookie campaign. The 2021 Formula 2 champion has been the best of the three rookies in the first 12 races of 2023, narrowly missing out on a first Grand Prix podium at Silverstone but did finish second in the Belgian Grand Prix Sprint race. Piastri is highly-rated, with ex-team boss Eddie Jordan even tipping him as a candidate for a seat at the all-conquering Red Bull team in the future. But Piastri has squashed that suggestion.
Piastri to Red Bull?
"It's flattering to have those comments. I'm very happy where I am," Piastri told media including RacingNews365. "It's always nice to be talked about in those kinds of ways, I think my season's been quite good for the most part, I think there's definitely been some mistakes or moments I wish I could have had again, but with hindsight, it's very easy to say those kinds of things. "I'm happy with where I'm at driving-wise, there's still a lot to improve, a lot to learn. "I've got a very strong teammate (Lando Norris) to learn from who just by being a benchmark is a big help for me getting back up to speed. "I'm happy where I am."
