Sergio Perez has shared his thoughts after confirming his departure from the Red Bull F1 team.
The Milton Keynes-based outfit formally announced Perez's exit from the team after four years in partnership.
Perez and Red Bull signed a two-year extension earlier this year after his strong start to the campaign.
But the Mexican driver endured a difficult spell of late with his results tapering off, leading to increased speculation that he could face the exit door.
With five grand prix wins and 29 podiums with the team, Perez outlined his gratitude for the opportunity to race for the front-running squad.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years with Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team,” Perez said.
“Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I’ll always cherish the successes we achieved together. We broke records, reached remarkable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way.
“A big thank you to every person in the team from the management, engineers and mechanics, catering, hospitality, kitchen, marketing and communications, as well as everyone at Milton Keynes, I wish you all the best for the future.”
Perez also voiced his appreciation for competing alongside Max Verstappen since 2021, with the pair driving Red Bull to two constructors' titles.
“It has also been an honour to race alongside Max as a teammate all these years and to share in our success,” Perez added.
“A special thank you to the fans around the world, and especially to the Mexican fans for your unwavering support every day. We’ll meet again soon. And remember…Never give up.”
Perez issues social media statement
Perez also took to social media to deliver his own message.
It read: “Four years ago an opportunity came along that would change my life.
“In a moment of confusion and frustration came an opportunity that would transform my career.
“Hand in hand with my first victory, I joined Red Bull. I arrived with all the illusion of returning the team to the top and make my flag fly on the podium.
“It wasn’t easy but with hard work and determination, the results came. We were champions.
“Mexico sang with our first podium at home.
“And of course, we conquered Monaco. We built history with our own hands.
“Today it’s time to thank Red Bull and move on. I am grateful and honoured to have been part of their history.
“On a personal note, it’s time to slow down for the first time in my life. But only for a few corners until we know what our next journey is.
“To all of you who have been with me, I thank you always. And no matter how hard your dreams may seem, always dare to believe. They best is always yet to come. We will meet again.”
