Sergio Perez has revealed a major hole in the side of his Red Bull RB20 car following an opening lap battle with Oscar Piastri.
The pair collided on the opening lap of the Austrian Grand Prix, cutting a sizeable hole in the side of Perez's car.
The Mexican driver explained he was powerless to avoid a difficult race after taking on the damage, driving to seventh place at the chequered flag.
Piastri, meanwhile, scored his second podium result of the campaign, crossing the line in second place.
Taking to social media after the race Perez stated: “Nothing we could do about the damage we suffered from the start.
“We lost and struggled throughout the race… We fought until the end trying to salvage something. We’re going all out in the next race.”
Posting on his Instagram story, Perez showcased the extent of damage dealt to his sidepod.
