Perez praises teamwork with Verstappen in Abu Dhabi qualifying

Despite missing out on pole position to his teammate, Sergio Perez was pleased with Red Bull's performance in qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez has praised his teamwork with Max Verstappen during the final runs of qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Mexican looked fast throughout the session, but a slight wobble in Q3 saw him miss out on provisional pole before then struggling to match the pace of Verstappen in the final runs. Verstappen secured pole position, while Perez will line up alongside him in second. Despite this, Perez was happy with how he and Verstappen worked together in the session. "I think I just didn't make that final step in Q3," Perez said after qualifying. "Especially Q3 run one wasn't that good, so we were a bit behind, but it's good to lock out that front row for tomorrow. "Max did a great job also for me. We worked together as a team really strongly on that final run, so [I'm] looking forward to tomorrow, which is the day that really matters."
