Sergio Perez is keen to test himself against Max Verstappen in 2021, calling the Dutchman one of the best, if not the best driver on the Formula 1 grid at the moment.
The likes of Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon have all failed to leave their mark at Red Bull in recent years, with Verstappen easily sweeping them aside. However Perez is up for the challenge of trying to beat Max.
"It's a big challenge for myself, we all know Max," the Mexican stated during his first video interview for Red Bull Racing. "We know how talented and how fast he is, but also how much he has grown in the past few years, how complete he is.
"So he's definitely one of the best and one of the fastest, if not the fastest out there in the current grid. So yeah, it's a massive challenge. He's been here a long time, he knows what he needs from the car, but it's a great challenge, and I look forward to working with him and to help push the team forward.
"We definitely have to close the gap to Mercedes and hopefully be able to beat them with both cars regularly, give them a big challenge and hopefully give us a better spectacle in Formula 1. It just takes a little bit to change the whole picture."
Perez finished fourth in the 2020 drivers' standings and picked up his first career victory at the Sakhir Grand Prix.
