Perez expects Mercedes to be strong at the British GP

The Red Bull driver is ready to battle Mercedes at Silverstone this weekend as F1 embarks on a new adventure with the sprint format.

Sergio Perez believes Mercedes will be tough to beat at the British Grand Prix and is excited about the prospect of F1's new sprint format. Perez had a difficult outing at the Austrian GP but has played a key role to help Red Bull build a 44-point advantage over Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship. "I saw Mercedes talk about upgrades so I’m sure they will be very strong this weekend," Perez said in a press release. "We will of course try our hardest as well and hopefully we will be able to come back up on top. Let’s see what happens!" Perez targets a podium and is looking forward to Saturday's sprint race which will offer points for the top three finishers. "I'm feeling positive and pumped up for this weekend, hopefully we can get onto the podium again," said Perez. "It will be interesting to see the new race format for F1 too. "As a team we have put in a lot of effort to understand the new race format, a lot of preparation and practice has gone into this weekend. It will be very different for everyone, it’s definitely exciting and I hope that the hard work pays off."
