Sergio Perez was a shock elimination from qualifying for the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix after crashing out in Q1. The Red Bull driver made a mistake into Turn 1 and clattered the barriers on the outside of the corner, with his car ending up stricken in the middle of the race track. With the car losing grip on entry to the corner, Perez clattered the left-hand side of the car, which will raise concerns about potential gearbox damage. The red flags were deployed, disrupting the qualifying hour, with Perez registering the fifth-fastest lap time when the session was stopped. If Perez's time is good enough to progress into Q2, the Mexican will not take part after suffering terminal damage to his car. As a result, the championship contender will likely do no better than P15 on the grid. To keep up to date with live updates, click here .
