Perez crashes heavily as woe continues

Pressure is building on the Mexican.

Sergio Perez has made the worst possible start to his Hungarian Grand Prix weekend by crashing just four minutes into first practice. The Mexican enters the weekend with pressure ramping up after Red Bull placed third driver Daniel Ricciardo into the AlphaTauri in place of Nyck de Vries for the rest of the season. Perez, who has failed to reach Q3 since the Miami Grand Prix, left his RB19 with heavy damage on the left-hand side after losing control on his first flying lap. His left wheels were dipped onto the grass aligning the outside of the entry to turn five, leaving Perez spinning out and into the barriers. A dispairing Perez said over team radio: "I cannot believe this. I caught the grass on the outside, I think." The crash leaves Red Bull with a hefty repair job ahead of FP2, with Perez's car stranded at the edge of the circuit. It also leaves a question over spare parts for Red Bull, having added a major upgrade package for the weekend.
