Former IndyCar champion Simon Pagenaud will undergo medical checks after a horrific accident in practice for the series' Mid-Ohio round. The Meyer Shank Racing driver lost his brakes at the heaviest braking zone on the circuit, before barrel-rolling through the gravel and into the barrier. Pagenaud completed almost seven full rotations during the terrifying incident, though he was able to escape the wreckage. His MSR team tweeted: "Scary incident for Simon. He is out of the car but will go to medical to get evaluated." Pagenaud became IndyCar Series champion in 2016 and followed up his success with the 2019 Indianapolis 500.
