Oscar Piastri believes he has "evidence" that he will be able to weather the wobble he is experiencing and fend off Max Verstappen's charge for the world championship.

Piastri suffered a dismal weekend in Austin, with a first lap crash in the Sprint for which he was widely deemed responsible, and a distant fifth in the grand prix to score 10 points.

Daniel Ricciardo believes "ridiculous" Max Verstappen is "keeping this championship even more exciting" as he tries to hunt down the McLaren drivers.

Following the United States GP weekend in which he scored a maximum 33 points, Verstappen ate into the points lead of Oscar Piastri, whittling away 23 points to sit 40 behind going into the final five races.

Mercedes confirm F1 driver change for Mexico FP1

Mercedes junior driver Frederik Vesti will return to the cockpit this weekend in Mexico, partaking in FP1 with the Brackley-based squad.

Vesti will stand in for George Russell for the opening practice session at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

George Russell proposes 'off the cliff' solution to growing F1 problem

George Russell has proposed an "off the cliff" solution to F1's growing problem with dull races, as he expressed his frustration at the United States GP.

Having qualified fourth, Russell was jumped at Turn 1 by the Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton and McLaren of Oscar Piastri to run sixth, which is where he finished the one-stop race.

Zak Brown apology revealed after Nico Hulkenberg 'amateur hour' gibe

Stake F1 boss Jonathan Wheatley has revealed that Zak Brown apologised "really quickly" after branding his involvement in the Turn 1 incident in the US Grand Prix as "amateur hour driving."

From fourth on the grid, Hulkenberg collided with Oscar Piastri at the pinchpoint of Turn 1 after the Australian swung back across the track to try and do the switchback manoeuvre on team-mate Lando Norris and pole-sitter Max Verstappen, both of whom had run slightly deep.

Pirelli to continue with major F1 experiment for Mexico City GP

Pirelli is to continue its recent trend of skipping tyre compounds in a bid to enliven strategic options in F1, at this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix.

Last time out in Austin, the C1, C3 and C4 tyres were used as the hard-medium and soft compounds, with the C2 not in action.
