Ocon credits Alonso amid Alpine area of improvement

Esteban Ocon has noticed a particular improvement in the Alpine team following Fernando Alonso's two-year spell with the squad.

Esteban Ocon has credited former Alpine driver Fernando Alonso after noticing a key area of improvement in the Formula 1 team. Alonso made his comeback to the sport with the squad in 2021 following a two-year hiatus. He then raced for the outfit for two seasons before switching to Aston Martin for 2023. Pierre Gasly has since occupied the Spaniard's seat, with the Frenchman continuing to adjust to his new environment after joining the team from AlphaTauri. When asked about the suggestion that Gasly has struggled with communication with his engineer, particularly during qualifying, Ocon spoke of the progress he has witnessed within the team since he joined in 2020.

Ocon: Gasly's side of garage 'extremely competent'

"When you arrive into a new team, there's a lot of of automatism that you need to put in place," Ocon told media, including RacingNews365.com . "But I think it's very different. The team that we have now, compared to the team that we had back in 2020, there's been a massive improvement. "Fernando has been working with the side of Pierre's garage in the last two years, and they are extremely competent in that side of the garage. "I have no worries that everything will be okay."
