McLaren has confirmed that a team member has been taken to hospital "as a precaution" following a fire in the paddock at the Spanish Grand Prix. 

Shortly before the start of Free Practice 3 on Saturday morning, the McLaren hospitality unit was evacuated after what is believed to be an electrical fire broke out in the kitchen.

2024 F1 Spanish Grand Prix - Qualifying results

Lando Norris claimed a second career Formula 1 pole position with a stunning late lap to deny Max Verstappen in the Spanish Grand Prix. 

A 1:13.403 was Verstappen's benchmark, as Norris was up through sector two on the final lap, with the McLaren driver denying Verstappen a 40th pole by just 0.020s.

Alpine defend controversial Briatore return

Horner eyes advantage in slender Verstappen qualifying defeat

Christian Horner has eyed an advantage in Max Verstappen's qualifying defeat to Lando Norris for pole at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Holding provisional pole, Verstappen was defeated by just 0.020s by Norris after the second Q3 runs for his second career pole, first since the 2021 Russian GP and McLaren's first in Barcelona since Kimi Raikkonen in 2005.

Alonso concedes to 'painful' Aston Martin period

Fernando Alonso has detailed he is expecting to endure a “painful” run of races as Aston Martin wait to introduce upgrades to fix its current struggles.

After a difficult day of practice on Friday, Alonso and team-mate Lance Stroll failed to advance into the final stage of qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Leclerc explains strange Norris clash

Charles Leclerc has explained his version of events after coming together with Lando Norris during the final free practice session in Spain.

The pair made contact on the run to Turn 7 after Leclerc aborted his lap, feeling he was impeded by the McLaren driver.
