Norris to Red Bull? Marko meeting sparks rumours

Could Red Bull be looking to replace Sergio Perez with Lando Norris? The Briton's manager was seen in discussion with Helmut Marko at Silverstone.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko was spotted talking to Lando Norris' manager before the British Grand Prix, fuelling speculation that the drinks-backed outfit are looking to hire the McLaren driver. Norris was voted Driver of the Day at Silverstone after he finished behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen in a season-best second place, with a raft of updates transforming the competitiveness of the McLaren MCL60. While Verstappen has swept all before him so far in 2023, teammate Sergio Perez has struggled to match the Dutchman's pace. A series of poor qualifying performances have contributed to the Mexican scoring only one podium finish in the last five races, all of which were won by Verstappen, and Marko has publicly criticised Perez for not maximising Red Bull's points haul. Speaking to Austrian media, Marko talked up Norris' talent and noted the friendly relations between the Briton and Verstappen, who is contracted at Red Bull until 2028. "Lando has a contract with McLaren until 2025, but he is by far the best of the younger drivers," Marko told Austrian outlet Kleine Zeitung , adding that there had already been "intensive talks" between Verstappen's team and Norris' management. "With his youthful character, he would also be the best fit for Red Bull, and it's no secret that Max and he are good friends."
