Who is Mike Krack

Mike Krack was born in Luxembourg on March 18, 1972. After completing studies in engineering, he joined BMW in July 1998. In 2001, he left BMW and applied for a job at Sauber. This is where Krack's motorsport career began.

At Sauber, Krack quickly became a valued team member. He began as a Data Analysis Engineer but eventually became Felipe Massa's Race Engineer in 2003. When BMW joined forces with Sauber, Krack became Chief Engineer.

In 2008, BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica competed for the championship and took victory at the Canadian Grand Prix, but despite a strong year, the BMW Sauber management decided to stop further development of its car that year, switching focus to the 2009 F1 season. Krack disagreed and left BMW Sauber.

Different route for Krack

After leaving, Krack held various roles in Formula 3. He later returned to BMW, this time as Chief Engineer within the DTM team. At the end of 2012, Krack left BMW again and joined Porsche. At Porsche, he became Head of Track Engineering in the World Endurance Championship team.

Mike Krack: former Team Principal Aston Martin F1

In 2014, Krack [again] returned to BMW. During this period, he was responsible for the Formula E, IMSA and GT programs. On January 14, 2022, it was announced that Mike Krack had joined Aston Martin F1 as Team Principal, succeeding Otmar Szafnauer. Szafnauer left to join the Alpine F1 team.

Ahead of the 2025 season, it was announced that Mike Krack would take on a different role as Chief Trackside Officer. The team principal position will be taken over by Andy Cowell due to the restructuring within Aston Martin's senior management team.
