Miami GP circuit claims first victim as FP1 red flagged

The opening free practice session for the Miami Grand Prix was red flagged after a crash at the tricky Turn 3.

Nico Hulkenberg was eliminated from the first free practice session for the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix after crashing out. The Haas driver, competing in Miami for the first time in his F1 career, sustained terminal damage to his car after running wide and spinning at Turn 3. In the low grip conditions of FP1, Hulkenberg ran slightly wide into Turn 3 and lost the back-end of the car. The Haas was spun 180-degrees and tagged the wall with the front-right corner of the car, breaking the suspension. At the time, Hulkenberg had set the second-fastest time on the Soft compound tyres, with teammate Kevin Magnussen running fourth. To keep up to date with the live updates, click here .
