Lando Norris's former number one mechanic at McLaren, Marc Cox, has announced he is moving to Aston Martin's Evolution programme. Cox originally joined McLaren back in 2008 as a number two mechanic before stepping up to number one in 2015. He departed from McLaren's F1 operation at the end of 2022 to become crew chief for the Extreme E team but has now joined Aston's Evolution programme to help in the running of previous cars in private test sessions and demonstration events. Cox is not officially joining the Aston Martin F1 race team in his new role. "After 17 years with McLaren, it’s time for my next chapter," he wrote on social media. "It’s gone by so fast, I had a blast and met some amazing people along the way. I’ll miss you papaya family."
