McLaren Team Principal, Zak Brown, is confident the team can end Max Verstappen's dominance in Formula 1 after their recent resurgence to the front. The Dutchman has been on a run of victories having taken six wins in a row between the Miami and British Grands Prix. Red Bull has not been unseated yet in 2023 having taken all 10 victories so far, but their win margins are started to close as teams behind battle in a development war. Brown was optimistic about McLaren's chances when speaking to Goodwood at this weekend Festival of Speed: "The racing has been unbelievably close other than Max and even Sergio is in the mix. "I think it's great time for F1 that in one weekend you have one team that's second quickest and the following weekend they're struggling to get out of Q1. "That's the competition that we're looking for in F1, so someone will eventually catch Max. Hopefully it'll be us, chances are it'll be a handful of people."
Brown praises Verstappen: He's doing an unbelievable job
Verstappen's biggest win streak during the 2022 season was four races in a row, while Red Bull's highest was nine in a row with Sebastian Vettel in 2013. Brown praised Verstappen for his performances on track so far this season, as the Dutchman continues to outclass the rest of the field. "He's doing an unbelievable, unbelievable job and it is great to see World Champions at the top of their game so you got to admire what he's doing," he said. "But I think once you look past Max, the field is unbelievably condensed. I think it's just going to get more exciting as as we move forward."
