Nikita Mazepin claims he has not had to deal with trolls or messages on social media because he rarely uses it. The Russian has come under scrutiny for some of his off-track incidents as well as his performances on the track.
It's something that Mazepin appears not to care about and wants to focus on his driving rather than seeing what people feel about him on various social media platforms.
"To have some sort of experience with this situations, you need to be an active user of social media, which I cannot entirely say I am," Mazepin told RacingNews365.com and other select members of the press.
"There's obviously a few things that I find interesting such as sports and racing on there. For example, seeing what F1 posts, because they post some very interesting insight content.
"But at the same time, people are enjoying seeing what they're seeing. That's what matters for them, but I don't normally see it and especially on race weekend, I use my phone only to speak with my team and that's it."
Mazepin also said he has not spoken to F1 about promoting his image on social media.
