Max Verstappen record smashed as Oscar Piastri stuns Lando Norris

Max Verstappen's Zandvoort lap record from 2021 was smashed by F1 championship leader Oscar Piastri, who denied McLaren sparring partner Lando Norris pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix. Norris had been the slight favourite for pole, only for Piastri to find crucial lap time when it mattered most. Home hero Verstappen was McLaren's closest threat, but still over two-tenths adrift. Rookie Isack Hadjar stunned the paddock to secure fourth on the grid, ahead of George Russell. It was a disappointing session for Aston Martin after a promising Friday, with Lance Stroll having crashed again in Q1.
