Max Verstappen's Zandvoort lap record from 2021 was smashed by F1 championship leader Oscar Piastri, who denied McLaren sparring partner Lando Norris pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix. Norris had been the slight favourite for pole, only for Piastri to find crucial lap time when it mattered most. Home hero Verstappen was McLaren's closest threat, but still over two-tenths adrift.
