Max Verstappen delivers early verdict on new Red Bull F1 boss

Red Bull caused a stir earlier this season when it announced a change in leadership.

Max Verstappen has reacted positively to the early work of Laurent Mekies following his arrival at Red Bull. The Milton Keynes-based squad promoted Mekies to the team principal position following the sudden dismissal of long-time boss Christian Horner. The change at Red Bull took place amid a challenging campaign for the team, which currently sees it sitting fourth in the constructors' standings. Red Bull made the switch just a couple of races before the summer break, which Verstappen asserted is not enough time to incorporate a significant shift. “He joined quickly and then had two weeks, and then you had a break again,” Verstappen told media including RacingNews365 . “So, it's not suddenly that a lot of things are changing.” Mekies is set to lead Red Bull into a fresh era next year when fresh technical regulations come into play. With Horner having control of the day-to-day operations of Red Bull for over 20 years, Verstappen acknowledged it is not realistic to expect a change in team dynamics so soon. “I like the approach that he's having,” he said. “And it seems like everyone is very positive about the mood in the team, also, when I see people walk around and when we’re talking.  “We just need to keep that going. It's not like, when you put someone in charge, that in two weeks or two months things can drastically change. It takes time.”
