Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko has demanded that the team understands where it has made a "wrong turn" in its development and rectify it quickly.
The Milton Keynes-based outfit endured a difficult Italian Grand Prix, which saw Max Verstappen finish sixth, ahead of Sergio Perez in eighth.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc claimed victory, whilst Verstappen's title rival Lando Norris finished third. Verstappen was a distant 31 seconds behind the British driver.
Marko was pleased with Ferrari winning and identified that Red Bull could have been made to look much worse.
"First, we are happy that Ferrari won with a bold but ultimately successful strategy," Marko told ORF.
"We are also happy with McLaren's sporting attitude. You could see that on the first lap and that they did not change places later.
"In other words, our misperformance was not that noticeable. It could have been worse, but the gap is about the same as in Zandvoort."

Ferrari strategy not possible
Polesitter Norris lost the lead of the race to team-mate Oscar Piastri on the opening lap, which Marko believes stopped the Briton from escaping.
Despite McLaren not taking maximum points out of Red Bull, Marko accepts the team has some serious problems to get on top of as soon as possible.
"If Lando had led from the start then, the gap would have been 40 seconds," added Marko. "Now it was 38 seconds.
"We know we have huge problems and this doesn't help. We have to go back and find the point where we made a wrong turn so we can get the balance in the car.
"And then hopefully things will look better again."
Ferrari stunned everyone in Monza, with it having been the only team to opt for a one-stop strategy.
Tyre graining was poor in Italy, yet Leclerc somehow nursed his set of hard tyres to the finish. For Red Bull, Marko recognises it would have never worked.
"Of course we looked at it, but our tyre wear was way too high. We could never have done that," conceded Marko.
