Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko is facing potential suspension by the team following the launch of an investigation.
It is a fresh twist in the saga concerning allegations made - and subsequently dismissed - against Christian Horner, which has already seen the accuser suspended by the company.
RacingNews365 understands that an investigation is now being held into Marko over the leaks to media that allowed the story to become public knowledge.
It is also understood that a meeting between Marko and Red Bull GmbH managing director Oliver Mintzlaff will take place in the week following the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Dutch publication De Telegraaf was the first to report Horner was under investigation and was also behind numerous updates made about the confidential case.

Speaking to Austrian outlet ORF, Marko responded to a question regarding a rumour of a suspension from Red Bull.
"How can I put it, it's difficult to judge, but let's put it this way: in the end it's up to me to decide what to do," replied Marko.
On whether there was a possibility of being suspended, he added: "The theoretical possibility is there."
"It's such a complex issue. We want peace within the team. This world championship will be difficult enough, there are 24 races and we have to concentrate on that."
