Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has outlined a clear target for Liam Lawson in his first season as a full-time F1 driver.
Following 11 substitute appearances for the sister team across the last two campaigns, the New Zealander was chosen as Sergio Perez's successor at Red Bull.
Marko and team principal Christian Horner were impressed by Lawson's six appearances last season, resulting in the 23-year-old being promoted over Yuki Tsunoda.
However, Lawson faces a huge test in his first year as a full-time F1 driver, as he will be alongside Max Verstappen.
The four-time world champion has dominated over his past three team-mates, with Perez having struggled to even score consistent points.
As outlined by Marko, scoring consistent points and supporting Verstappen is what the Milton Keynes-based team expect from Lawson in 2025.
"He should be a constant point collector and help Max when necessary, not just try," Marko told OE24."
For Lawson, there could be an initial period of uncertain performances, with the driver needing to settle into Red Bull and adjust to life as a full-time driver.
Understanding what it is like to partner Verstappen is another aspect Lawson will need to quickly get to grips with; however, as pointed out by the new Red Bull driver, he already knows the team well.
"To be honest, I've actually been with the team quite a long time," Lawson told ESPN.
"Fortunately, it actually doesn't really feel like a new team because of the relationships that are there and have been there for quite a few years.
"But, yeah, starting the season, it's going to be feel, I think, quite new."
