MotoGP championship leader Marco Bezzecchi has issued a statement after his ban from the Czech GP for striking a marshal.
After crashing from the Sprint, the Italian struck a marshal trying to recover his Aprilia machine, twice, and was promptly banned from the Brno Grand Prix on Sunday as a result.
The decision was appealed by the team to no avail, with Bezzecchi now taking to social media to offer a statement.
"I would like to apologise to the entire MotoGP community for my behaviour towards the trackside marshal," it began.
"I am also sorry because I know how much effort and sacrifice marshals make to ensure our safety.
"This behaviour shouldn't happen, and there is no justification for it.
"I apologise to everyone, Aprilia Racing and all my fans."
