Mahindra unveil 'completely new' Formula E challenger

Mahindra has revealed its new car for the upcoming eleventh season of Formula E, which will see the introduction of the Gen3 EVO. 

Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara remain with the Banbury-based team for another campaign, with both drivers being on multi-year contracts. 

Season 10 was a campaign of mixed fortunes for the Indian manufacturer, as a difficult beginning of the season was met by a strong push in the latter rounds. 

Its new car – the M11Electro – is "completely new", team principal Frederic Bertrand told RacingNews365, and features metallic red, silver satin and carbon black in its livery. 

The new mini-era of FE is an extraordinary development in technology, with the new cars being capable of 0-60mph in 1.82s, a new record for an FIA single-seater. 

De Vries is impressed by the new technology and also the design of Mahindra's new car. 

“It’s always interesting when Formula E introduces a new car," said de Vries. "It’s important that we continue to evolve with the technology, and this new GEN3 Evo in particular will add some different elements to the racing.

“The car looks fantastic, and testing has gone well. I’m confident that we can continue to make steps forward as a team and pick up the momentum from where we left off at the end of Season 10.”

According to Mortara, private testing has gone well for the outfit, who are hoping to push higher up the order in S11 after finishing 10th last season.

“Testing has definitely been promising so far, but as always, there is plenty to do to ensure we keep developing and keep improving," said Mortara.

“A new car is a fresh opportunity for all the teams, and seeing it here in person, with the new livery, everything feels a lot more real. 

"I can’t wait to get to Valencia and to get a clearer understanding of where we are, and where we can go from here.”
