Mahindra launch new Formula E challenger as major goal set: 'We believe'

Mahindra has launched the M12 Electro – it's car for the upcoming final season of Formula E's Gen3 era.

Mahindra has launched its Formula E car for the upcoming season with the belief it can claim its target of finishing in the top three in the teams' championship – the M12Electro.

The Indian manufacturer unveiled its new car and tweaked livery at a launch event on Tuesday evening in central London, which was hosted by several Mahindra senior figures – RacingNews365 was in attendance.

While the hardware is under homologation for the upcoming final season of the Gen3 era – São Paulo hosts the season-opener on December 6 – much has been done to the car's software.

After Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara claimed five podiums between them last season, Mahindra has the goal to return to the top step of the podium.

Following difficult seasons in 2023 and 2024, Mahindra roared back into life last campaign, through the introduction of Gen3 Evo.

It made huge strides towards the front of the field and clinched fourth in the standings, with the ultimate goal for 2026 being to finish in the top three.

Progress being made was vitally important to Mahindra and its senior figures, as highlighted at the launch event.

"After a strong Season 11, I am delighted to be at the launch into the next phase of Mahindra Racing," said Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of Mahindra.

"As the Mahindra Group continues its exciting expansion into electric vehicles on the road, our race cars Rise to new heights on the track.

"I see a strong symbiotic relationship developing between Mahindra Racing, Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Auto in brand, technology, and experience."

The attendance of Mahindra's chairperson at the launch was an indicator of the huge steps the Banbury-based team has made in 2025, but it is eager to push further forwards.

"It’s fantastic to have everybody in London to launch the Mahindra M12Electro, our new Formula E car," said team principal and CEO, Fred Bertrand. "It’s also a great source of pride for everyone at the team that Mr. Anand Mahindra could be here.

"He’s been a passionate supporter of our programme – and our progress – over the past few years, and a real driving force behind all the success we have enjoyed on track.

"The aim is to keep growing as a team, to continue improving and to challenge for a top three position in the World Championship this year. We believe it’s possible – and belief has carried this team a very long way over the last 18 months!"
