Kevin Magnussen admits that he has seen benefits at Haas since they developed their relationship with their Maranello base in his time away. The American team have a close relationship with Ferrari, in that the Scuderia manufacture listed parts – for which a team needs to hold the design rights – at a base in Maranello, separate to the main Ferrari factory. Haas also buy in their non-listed parts from outside sources. This is something that has developed since the introduction of the budget cap at the end of 2020, meaning that it coincided with Magnussen's exit from the outfit. Following a year away from Formula 1 in 2021, the Danish driver made a surprise return to his former team to replace the ousted Nikita Mazepin for 2022, with the move announced less than two weeks before the season started in March.
Magnussen reflects on "nice" change
When asked for his thoughts on the Maranello arrangement since returning to Haas, Magnussen spoke positively about how it has impacted the way in which the squad functions. "There's been a nice change in the team," he told media, including RacingNews365.com , over the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. "In the year that I've been away, it's a bigger group now in Maranello, and I think that helps communication between the different departments, [in] just being able to go and talk to each other. "Our team for all those years had been spread out over the world; in the US, and then two places in in Italy and one in England, so very spread out. "I think in terms of communication, it makes it easier when you can just go to your mate's desk and have a chat, so it's better and it's also grown. "We have more people and it feels better. And of course, the car shows that too, so it's in a good place, [the] Haas F1 team."
