Magnussen ready to ‘fuck shit up’ on F1 return in Singapore

Kevin Magnussen returns to the F1 cockpit this weekend after serving a one-race ban in Baku last time out.

Kevin Magnussen has joked he is ready to “fuck shit up” upon his return to F1 this weekend in Singapore.  Magnussen was forced to sit out last weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix due to picking up a race ban. The Haas driver accumulated his 12th penalty point within the last 12 months at Monza and became the first F1 driver to be issued a ban since Romain Grosjean in 2012. Magnussen is back in the cockpit at Singapore this weekend after being replaced by Oliver Bearman in Baku, with his penalty point tally now reset to zero. “You get punished and then you come back and you're like 'I'm ready to fuck shit up now',” Magnussen laughed.  “It's funny how that works [the tally resetting to zero], but in a way, it hasn't really affected me with those points. “It was annoying to have the knowledge that the next time anything happens, there's a race ban. So it's nice to know that's not a factor anymore.  “But I actually don't think it has affected me and how I've driven. I really tried to just say 'I need to crack on here and whatever happens, happens'.”

Magnussen admits to 'weird' experience

Magnussen's substitute Bearman managed to bag a solitary point for Haas following a chaotic end to the race in Baku. The Dane acknowledged it was a “weird” feeling to watch his car from the sidelines but took the event as an opportunity to spend time with his family. “It was a little extra bonus weekend off with the family, so in many ways, it was nice to have a little surprise holiday,” Magnussen said. “I watched some of the race in my gym on Sunday with half an eye while I was still training. “I tried to switch my mind off, I took the opportunity to have a nice weekend off. “It was kind of a weird feeling, I thought it was weird that I'm here, and they’re there. I didn't think too much about it. It wasn't really on my mind.”
