As is tradition, the motorsport year will kick off with the gruelling Dakar Rally
The 48th edition of the world's toughest endurance event begins in Saudi Arabia on January 3.
After a short prologue on the opening day, an exhausting two-week battle awaits the participants, who will cover almost 8,000 kilometres before the race concludes in Yanbu on January 17.
With many major names again competing, such as Carlos Sainz Sr and Sebastien Loeb, the challenge is split over thirteen stages, with one rest day midway through.
Either side, the drivers will travel a total of 8,000 kilometres over dunes, through valleys, across sandy plains, all interspersed with tricky rocky stretches.
