Charles Leclerc believes that his pole position lap for the Azerbaijan GP was not good enough to be fastest with plenty of time left on the table. Leclerc took advantage of a slipstream from Lewis Hamilton in the final part of the lap to make it back to back pole positions on a track where Ferrari were expected to be off the pace. "It was quite a shit lap I thought," said Leclerc after qualifying. "There were like two or three corners were I made mistakes but then of course I had the big slipstream from Lewis in the final sector which helped me a little bit. "Overall I think we would have been thereabouts on pole anyway without the slipstream so it's a good day. I did not expect to be as competitive as we were today." Leclerc feels it will be very tough to win the race but will do everything he can to keep championship protagonists Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen at bay. "I think Mercedes and Red Bull have more in the race so it's going to be very difficult because it's not Monaco as you can overtake," added Leclerc. "Hopefully we can keep first place."
