Charles Leclerc has reiterated his faith in Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur and highlighted the Frenchman's biggest strength as a leader.

The Italian outfit started the current season strongly, scoring multiple podiums and winning the Australian Grand Prix. Leclerc also won his home race in Monaco before enduring a dip in performance.

The Monégasque driver returned to the podium last time out in Belgium, benefitting from George Russell's disqualification.

As Ferrari currently operates as what appears to be fourth in the pecking order, Leclerc has declared his confidence in Vasseur has not wavered.

“I've always said that I 200 per cent trust Fred,” Leclerc told media including RacingNews365

“He has brought a new mentality to the team, where he's taken care of every single individual within the team to try to put people in the best condition possible in order to extract their maximum potential.

“I think this is Fred's biggest strength, as well as being super good at analysing critical situations.”

Leclerc confident over Ferrari resurgence

Ferrari's slip in the pecking order has come following a surge from McLaren and Mercedes, who have offered an increased challenge to Red Bull of late.

Leclerc has backed Vasseur to lead Ferrari back to front-running competition in the near future.

“It’s very easy sometimes in F1, when things are going very wrong to put everything in the same basket and say, ‘Oh, my God, everything we are doing is bad',” he said.

“However, Fred has a super good analysis on that, to pinpoint and to give the right direction to the team in those critical moments. It’s super important.

“I'm sure that we'll see the benefits of it very soon.”
