Leclerc: I don't care about fourth and fifth places

The Ferrari driver believes he can be victorious in 2021 despite the deficit to Mercedes and Red Bull who lead the way. He also reveals what he has learned during his three years in Formula 1.

Charles Leclerc is gunning for a win in 2021 even though Ferrari face an uphill battle to catch Red Bull and Mercedes. The Monegasque driver qualified in fourth place in Bahrain and finished fifth behind McLaren's Lando Norris. He failed to win last year as Ferrari suffered their worst F1 season since 1980 and is desperate to not go winless for a second consecutive year. "I will be happy if I win at least one race," Leclerc told Il Giornale. "It's going to be tough, but the win makes me happy and I'm always fighting to try. "That is in my mentality, even when I start at the back and know that I cannot win, I still focus on victory. I don't care about fourth and fifth places." Leclerc feels his one lap pace is his biggest strength while he has understood the importance of choosing his battles and not going over the limit. "I worked a lot on patience," Leclerc added. "At first I always wanted everything right away, especially in my first year at Ferrari. "Now I have understood that I need to keep my patience more and work to fix things."
