Charles Leclerc reckons the arrival of Carlos Sainz has had a galvanising effect on the whole team, with the Spaniard coming in to replace Sebastian Vettel for 2021.
With Ferrari taking a step forward in terms of performance for this season, the arrival of fresh blood has been a welcome one for the Scuderia, and Leclerc believes seeing the obvious enthusiasm Sainz has for racing in red can only be beneficial for the team.
“In recent years he has been in several teams," Leclerc told Motorsport Italy.
"I think it's always interesting to get an idea of how the opponents work.
"Then I immediately perceived his great motivation, he is in his first year with Ferrari and you can see that he wants to do very well immediately, and this euphoria is contagious for the benefit of the whole team.
"I believe that for a team it is always positive to have two drivers who push and claw to get back to victory”.
Part of the feeling of revitalisation is down to the departure of Sebastian Vettel after six seasons with Ferrari, with the relationship between the team and driver disintegrating towards the end.
However, Leclerc, whose relationship with Vettel remained good throughout their time together, said that there are strengths that the four time Champion was able to bring to the table.
“Definitely, starting with his experience," he said.
"In certain situations he had great analytical skills, and I think I learned a lot from Seb in this respect. I realised that the importance he gave to some details in the end made a big difference on the track, it was very interesting for me to evaluate these aspects.
"Then Seb is a very good person, who has always struck me for his simplicity”.
