Billionaire Lawrence Stroll

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Lawrence Stroll made a series of shrewd investments that helped him grow his wealth. He was responsible for bringing the Pierre Cardin and Ralph Lauren brands to Canada before investing in Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors. A bulk of his fortune comes from his investment in Michael Kors as the ensuing IPO in 2011 enabled him to sell his shares in the company, in turn making him a billionaire.

Stroll has long had a passion for cars and owns a collection of vintage Ferraris, from the Ferrari 250 GTO to the latest LaFerrari. He has also raced in the Ferrari Challenge in 2007 and 2008, and played an integral part in helping his son Lance reach Formula 1. In 2017, Lawrence Stroll manages to secure a seat at Williams for his son Lance Stroll and so begins his career in Formula 1.

After a successful stint owning the Prema Powerteam in the junior formula, Stroll entered the world of F1 team ownership when he and a consortium of investors took over the beleaguered Force India team and renamed it Racing Point. The fashion tycoon didn’t stop there as he also invested in British car company Aston Martin in early 2020, taking an executive chairman position in the company in the process.

Given his investment in the company, Stroll has renamed Racing Point as Aston Martin for the 2021 campaign. Four-time German world champion Sebastian Vettel has been recruited to join the team alongside Lawrence’s son Lance.

Given his success with the Prema Powerteam, the older Stroll will be hoping to attain a similar level of success with his Formula 1 team.

They finished P7 in the 2021 constructors' championship. Sebastian Vettel achieved a podium at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with Aston Martin and he also landed on P2 at the Hungary Grand Prix. Unfortunately, he was disqualified from this place due to a fuel infringement. They also finished seventh among constructors in 2022 with the same driver duo as in 2021.

In the 2023 season, Fernando Alonso has secured a spot with the Aston Martin F1 team to replace Sebastian Vettel and will drive alongside Lance Stroll. After the first two races, Alonso already has achieved 2 P3's. So Lawrence Stroll's investments are paying off and the car looks set to compete well as a top team this season.

Lawence Stroll is married to Claire-Anne Stroll. She works in the fashion industry. They have had two children together, including Lance Stroll. Lance also has a sister, namely Chloe Stroll.
